CWTS: Talladega

Qualifying went well but didn't have enough for the pole.

The race started out horrible getting an end of the longest line penalty for no reason at all and started at the back of the field. With a lot of luck and patients I worked through the traffic and found myself in 6th and too far away to catch the leaders. I held off a few drivers for the 6th position.

Congrats Dan, I know I had something for you but didn't have the chance to race with you.

This started of really bad for me, i got a stop & go penalty upon crossing the line. I came out of pits just in time to hook up with the leaders on lap 2. I managed to pick up some positions along the way from those who crashed and and some who were lapped. If the race was a couple laps longer i would have had a top 10 finish.

Conrats to Danny for the great win, and to Chris & Tom for the podiums.

Well, this was my first race in this sim, and Axel Rose said it best “Welcome to the Jungle”. I had qualified well back because I just ran the race set-up. For my first race, I really didn’t know what to expect. Mike Bush sent me a set-up that was great. I could drive the truck anywhere on that track. Thanks Mike! You the man! The start was just a wild scene as all I saw were trucks spinning to the inside. I went high and kept the throttle down and made a lot of ground. The next thing I knew, I was right behind my team mate Mike Bush. So I tucked in behind him to just get the experience. I thought I may be just a bit faster so I dove down low to make the pass. We ran with Tom Moseley & Lance Mayne for several laps swapping positions. That was so much fun guys! Thanks for racing so clean. I think that was the highlight of my sim career. At one point I was running 6th, but didn’t know it because I was concentrating so hard to stay clean. If I knew I was in 6th, I would have pissed my pants and hit the wall! I tried to keep Tom at bay behind me, but with 2 laps to go, I made a bobble in turn 3 and he got under me, made the pass, and Lance followed him as well. Then the checkered flag came out and I saw I finished 8th and was in absolute joy with the race. Hope I stayed clean with everyone and didn’t upset you. Anyway, I think I drove clean tonight with patience and that’s how I got into the top ten. Thanks again to Mr. Bush for a great truck to drive. See ya all next week!

15th not too bad for starting last and getting a stop and go on the start. I went a lap down on my first lap and came back from 30th to take 15th. I could have done alot worse. congrats danny on the win, you deserve it, you were real fast.

Well it all started out good and then .....lol

Had a great set to work with from R-singh (thx bro) A good start but then while 2 wide in a 4 car draft I hit the dreaded yellow line and up the track I went takeing out inocent victoms as i bounced off the wall , sry to whoever got cought in my mistake ,my bad , i had over 100 pratice laps for this race and never should have let that happen so sorry for ruining someones race ;-( .. 120 sec's in the pits and i came out 3 laps down ,I then hooked up with Anthony James and we started gaining on the pack picking up Brian Medlin as we went , by now we had good pace and we were picking off spots back to 18th! Now the leaders were comming .. when they came by it was intence ,i thought thay had all passed and went back to the bottom only to find Brian down there already probably trying to hook the leaders ,sry bri i never saw you ;-O sigh~~ ...

With only a few laps left my luck totaly ran out [again] (it was bad luck anyway lol) and i cought the tire barrier and lost the right side tires ... ugg .. back in the pits , back to 22nd lol , i came out in time to take the checkerd ! wheeeww ... maby next time ... heh ...

Charlie, yes it was fun racing with you, Lance, and Michael. I thought your engine wouldn't make it to the end and I knew I didn't want to be behind you if it blew so I tried to stay in front of you as much as possible.

I wanted to mention that we only had 8 DNF's out of 30 drivers. That's awesome!

Thanks to Tim and the whole DBF team for putting together the CWTS events. A field of 30 with others waiting to join is a real testament to the caliber of a well put together series. I was on team speak, and witnessed a driver give up his starting spot for a fellow competitor in a gesture that notes mentioning.
If there was room for 42 you probably would have a full field.

Wow to Danny for a blistering pole time and win.

I was very impressed with the caliber of everyone’s driving. Two and three wide, seven deep, I thought for sure we were going to have the “Big One”, but everyone kept their lines and showed patience with give and take, just awesome.

I had a great truck, fast and could put it anyplace. I had to constantly drag the brake to keep off of the truck in front, all good. We were running two wide, and someone touched the apron, and I (and everyone directly behind me) went up to the wall (touched it actually) to make room for his recovery. He almost pulled it off but he got into me and that was the end of a top ten for me and several others. I’m sure he had a “this will not end well” moment but it was a racing thing. Great fun, excellent competitors, congratulations go out to all.

There was some good close racing and I missed alot of it because I never could get the 25cents tape to work right!
Oh yea good run Danny I watched the rest of the race and they just could not team up on you.

My first win at R2P. plate racing is my favorite type of racing. seeing how i only use one foot to drive tracks with braking are not easy for me. Thanks to Chris and Tom for racing me clean I almost had to let you go my oil temp hit 226 a couple times and i knew 227 it was going to overheat.

Oh by the way Danny I'm glad to see someone in our age group show these kids something.
