Brands Hatch FBMW

Despite finishing way lower than my qualifying spot, that was an awesome fun race. I've taken a bit of time out from racing recently, mostly because of work commitments, and it was great to get back in there with you all.

From my 3rd place on the grid I lost loads of places after a stupid mistake on about lap 4 but managed to catch back up to Darren Adams in 4th or 5th after a while. Darren and I had some good duels at various points in the race.

Mid race I had an unfortunate encounter with a back marker who after getting out of shape on a high speed corner round the back of the circuit, misjudged my rate of closure and ended up in my way when I think he was trying to get out of my way. Bummer for both of us.

Darren got past again and we duelled some more. Eventually I got by but I soon over cooked the exit of T3 and trashed my front aero in the tyres needing repairs.

I surprised myself with this race, wasnt expecting to beat Pete at all. These FBMW cars are a lot better than the rFactor ones, I had some great fun out there today.

Pete never stopped pushing the whole race, I got the gap to about 2secs for about a lap and it all came tumbling down.

I had my first ever mechanical DNF at R2P today. It was my own fault as I sent the car into the barrier and wrecked the suspension. 3 pit stops later and it was still broken so I retired.

These cars are fun to drive but I'm way off pace. But pace isn't everything. Keeping it on track and in one piece also brings a result. So 7th in the end is more than expected after a 17th in quali. Grats to Tim, Pete and Miguel.

My first open-wheel race and I was happy to qualify where I did even though it was much slower than I had been able to do earlier.

Things went pretty well overall. I was nervous about getting too close to anyone trying to protect my wings. I had a few offs but managed to hit sideways. Was able to keep 11th for most of the race and finish there even though I went off on the last lap and finally bashed my front wing off.

Luckily 12th was far enough back that I was able to get it to the finish line.

Congrat to podium. My first open wheel race. My poor driving experience resulted in early crash and pit. I lost 9th position. Left pit 16th. Few laps before finish I got somehow to 12th. Some lap later I saw Michael Herring too far to catch him and Michael Virt too far back to catch me. I slowed down to bring it safely to finish. I can´t believe I take points. :-)

Figured I'd take a trip out of my comfort zone this season to run this series. Apart from a couple of fun runs and a few (poor) attempts with the RF version, I've always kept a roof over my head.
Must admit I nearly gave up and bailed, until team-mate Garret sent me a decent setup. Mine was utter shit!
The race was a lot of fun, pushed Tim hard all the way, but he was just a little too good for me this time.

Pretty quiet race except for some fun with Roger, he was much faster but as he said, every time he passed something would happen to put him behind again. The first time he approached me I didn't even attempt any defence, I knew it would just slow us both up, but the next time I decided a fight was in order! Some nice side by side stuff, unlucky with the contact you had Roger.
Ended up 4th after Sam and Garret had problems and that was much better than I deserved with my pace.
Grats to the top 3, very fast up there.

Not sure why, but i just cannot get along with Race07 version of brands. It annoys me that with the live track, you are forced to take simbins theoretical racing line, even if its completely wrong, prime example is going through Surtees (onto the GP section).

I'm sticking with the championship, as i like the cars. But that track i really can't get the hang of in race07. I didn't want to DNF, but as i kept going off with frustration, i called it a day before i took out someone else.
