22 Jul 2006 — Conor McCarrell led every lap from first-place start to first-place finish for his first career win in the Trois-Rivieres Sprint in Round 2 of the Formula 3 series.
McCarrell ran all of eight laps total leading Kent Welker after originally being caught by him on the first lap. McCarrell controlled the race lead every lap from green flag to win.
McCarrell moves up to fourth in the standings, now tied in points with fifth's Dean Shackleton following Shackleton's sixth-place finish. McCarrell has two starts and led 25 of his 32 laps while taking the victory once.
The inaugural win for McCarrell came on his second outing in the Formula 3 '06. McCarrell has taken the Formula 3 '06 to Trois-Rivieres two times.
Kent Welker passed through more than half the field from 14th on the starting grid to second place at the finish line.
Welker drove equal parts of 14 laps total leading Adriano Manocchia after catching and passing him on lap 14, coming from as many as 11 spots back. Welker cleared Manocchia and into second place on lap 14, and controlled it the remaining half-dozen laps to the finish.
Welker moves up to second in the standings, two points behind David Fish. Welker has two starts and finished as high as second.
David Fish passed through more than half the field from 13th on the starting grid to fifth place at the finish line.
Fish spent nearly all of seven laps total leading Kent Welker after initially being caught by him on the first lap. Fish fended off an extended challenge by Welker in the beginning, staying just a turn ahead of him over a solid run of six laps. Ultimately Fish lost the spot on lap 7 and settled into fifth the 14 laps running to the conclusion.
Fish remains in the lead of the standings, two points ahead of Kent Welker. Fish has two starts and led 25 of his 50 laps while taking the victory once.
Formula 3 series moves on to Round 3 in two weeks at Barber Motorsports Park. The series has 16 drivers competing for points in the championship.

Manocchia fended off a prolonged challenge by Welker in the middle stages, staying just a couple turns ahead of him over a solid run of seven laps. Ultimately Manocchia lost the spot on lap 14 and settled into third the seven laps running to the checkered flag.
Manocchia moves up to eighth in the standings, now tied in points with seventh's Fernando Deutsch following Deutsch's seventh-place finish. Manocchia has two starts and finished as high as third.
