Daytona International '70 National Stock
21 Dec 2016 — Jason Whited led all drivers most for 19 of 32 laps on a run for first place in the Daytona International '70 National Stock.
Driving the Centennial, Whited wrestled the advantage back and forth with Ronan Smedeman in a long and tense battle for the race lead starting early on, running within an apex of each other over a span of 32 laps. Whited drove nearly equal parts leading Smedeman after engaging and passing him on lap 7, coming from as many as three spots back. After losing the spot on lap 12, Whited passed Smedeman for the third time and into first place on lap 18, and controlled it the remaining 14 laps to the checkered flag.
Ronan Smedeman led the pack for 13 laps in a run to second place.
Driving the Edgar, Smedeman swapped leads multiple rounds with Jason Whited in a drawn-out battle for the race lead from the early stages, battling over a span of 32 laps. Smedeman drove nearly equal parts leading Whited after being caught by him on the first lap. Smedeman fended off an extended challenge by Whited midway through, staying just a turn ahead of him over a solid run of six laps. In the end Smedeman lost the spot on lap 18 and settled into second the 15 laps running to the checkered flag.
Ronny Farias took third place.
