Thomas dominates lead from start to finish, clinches title in Salzburgring Multiclass

Freitas locks down class championship driving Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT

24 Dec 2016 — Fahn Thomas started on the pole and led every lap on the way to a commanding victory in the ES_GT2 class and clinch the series championship in the Salzburgring Multiclass in Round 7 of the Farewell Race2Play EnduRacers Endurance Series [SemiPro].

Alex Freitas clinched the ES_GT1 class championship with a second-place finish after leading five laps.

Driving the Ferrari F430, Thomas ran nearly all of 69 laps total leading Bolas Plata after being caught by him on the first lap. Thomas controlled the race lead every lap from green flag to victory.

The ES_GT2 class championship was clinched this round by Thomas with his winning run. Thomas took the victory in six of his seven starts, leading 248 of 335 laps total.

Freitas swapped leads multiple rounds with Jason Whited in a drawn-out fight for second starting midway through, wrangling over a range of 47 laps. Freitas spent the majority leading Whited after engaging and passing him on lap 34, coming from as many as three positions back. After losing the spot on lap 61, Freitas passed Whited for the second time and into second place on lap 65, and controlled it the remaining few laps to the finish.

The ES_GT1 class championship was clinched this round by Freitas with his second-place run. Freitas took the victory in three of his six starts, leading 72 of 293 laps total.

In the 50 career runs taken by Freitas in the Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT, he has led 306 laps in all and taken the victory eight times.

John Van Der Geest led every lap from first-place start to first-place finish in the ES_P2 class.

Josh Crane controlled the top spot in the ES_GT1 class most of all, leading 61 of 70 laps on a run to first place.

Van Der Geest ran nearly all of 44 laps total leading Ken Jagger after being caught by him on the first lap. Van Der Geest controlled the race lead every lap from green flag to win.

Van Der Geest remains in second in the ES_P2 class standings, cutting the gap to first's Marcos Junior to four points. Van Der Geest has six starts and led 190 of his 290 laps while taking the victory twice.

EnduRacers Endurance Series [SemiPro] moves on to its eighth and final round in a week at Circuit of the Americas. The series has 40 drivers competing for points in the multiclass championships.

Crane mixed it up with Jason Whited in a prolonged battle for the race lead from the middle stages, wrangling over a span of 30 laps. Driving the Aston Martin DBR9, Crane spent nearly all leading Whited after being engaged by him on lap 9. After losing the spot on lap 30, Crane got around Whited and into first place on lap 34, and kept it the remaining 36 laps to the conclusion.

Crane is fifth in the ES_GT1 class standings for the series. He has one start and led 61 of his 70 laps raced while taking the victory once.

The top spot in the ES_GT2 class is owned by Fahn Thomas, but the remaining places in the Top 5 are an open field for 15 drivers in the running. Barrett Erickson, Gilles Lalonde, Tobias Mueller, Bolas Plata, Juan Puyo, and Mark Carty are all within one race of the current podium.

First place in the ES_GT1 class is owned by Alex Freitas, but the remaining places in the Top 5 are an open battleground for 11 drivers in the running. Paul Anstey, Ramon Llupart, Jason Whited, Josh Crane, Jorge Herrera, and Rafael Iwata are all within one race of the current podium.

Marcos Junior leads the ES_P2 class championship in a tight campaign over John Van Der Geest, separated by just a few grid positions. The title continues to be challenged by Ken Jagger and Andrie Ambadar as well. The Top 5 places are an open ring for six drivers in the running with one race remaining.

Gilles Lalonde made his 20th start in the Spyker C8 and captured fourth place in the ES_GT2 class.

Lalonde took the fight back and forth with Javier Manzanares in a prolonged battle for fourth from the beginning, fighting over a span of 57 laps. Driving the Spyker C8, Lalonde ran the majority pursuing Manzanares after engaging him on the first lap. Lalonde passed Manzanares for the second time and into fourth place when Manzanares retired on lap 59, and held it the final few laps to the conclusion.

Lalonde remains in third in the ES_GT2 class standings, increasing the lead over rival Tobias Mueller to nine points. Lalonde has five starts and finished as high as fourth.

In the 20 career runs taken by Lalonde in the Spyker C8, he has finished as high as second twice.

Jason Whited held the ES_GT1 class lead for four laps in a run to third place.

Barrett Erickson captured third place in the ES_GT2 class.

Whited traded positions multiple rounds with Alex Freitas in a prolonged battle for second starting midway through, battling over a span of 47 laps. Driving the Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT, Whited spent the majority pursuing Freitas after being caught and passed by him on lap 34. In the end Whited settled into third the few laps running to the checkered flag.

Whited moves up to fourth in the ES_GT1 class standings, six points behind Ramon Llupart. Whited has two starts and led four of his 96 laps while finishing as high as third.

Erickson ran nearly all of 39 laps total leading Javier Manzanares after challenging and passing him on the fifth lap. Erickson got around Manzanares and into third place on lap 5, and controlled it the remaining 62 laps to the checkered flag.

Erickson remains in second in the ES_GT2 class standings, increasing the lead over rival Gilles Lalonde to 32 points. Erickson has six starts and took the win once.

Mike Erickson took fourth place in the ES_P2 class.

Bolas Plata captured second place in the ES_GT2 class.

Ken Jagger took second place in the ES_P2 class.

Erickson swapped leads with Marcos Junior in a lengthy and determined fight for second starting early on, running within a turn of each other over a span of 14 laps. Driving the Porsche Spyder Evo, Erickson spent the majority pursuing Junior after engaging him on the first lap. In the end Erickson settled into fourth the lap before retiring early due to accident trouble.

Erickson remains in fifth in the ES_P2 class standings, cutting the gap to fourth's Andrie Ambadar to one point. Erickson has four starts and led nine of his 143 laps while taking the victory once.

Plata ran nearly all of 65 laps total leading Barrett Erickson after being caught by him on the first lap. Plata controlled second position every lap from the green flag to the conclusion.

Plata moves up to fifth in the ES_GT2 class standings, now tied in points with sixth's Juan Puyo. Plata has two starts and finished as high as second.

Jagger swapped leads multiple rounds with Marcos Junior in a drawn-out battle for second from the early stages, fighting over a span of 65 laps. Driving the Porsche Spyder Evo, Jagger ran the majority leading Junior after challenging and passing him on lap 11. After losing the spot on lap 14, Jagger got around Junior for the second time and into second place on lap 34, and held it the remaining 41 laps to the conclusion.

Jagger remains in third in the ES_P2 class standings, increasing the lead over rival Andrie Ambadar to 14 points. Jagger has seven starts and led 18 of his 311 laps while finishing as high as second.

Marcos Junior took third place in the ES_P2 class.

Congrats, nice track!

I was running comfortably third, when a P2 ended my race.

First of all Congrats to all drivers

In my case, my internet dead and turn off Just this :(

Some highlights of my race was that i recieved some hits/crash of drivers that want to pass me in some moments of race, but it dosent a problem , this is racing , i really enjoy this race and i want to drive more with all of you and if is possible have more amazing moments/races
