Freitas makes milestone career start for win in Hermanos Rodriguez Multiclass

12 Nov 2016 — Alex Freitas made his 400th career start and took first place in the ES_GT1 class in the Hermanos Rodriguez Multiclass in Round 3 of the Farewell Race2Play EnduRacers Endurance Series [SemiPro].

From the eighth spot on the starting grid, Len Venne worked through the field of nine to claim second place in the ES_P2 class at the finish.

Freitas ran all of nine laps total leading Rafael Iwata after being engaged by him on the first lap. Freitas got around Iwata and into seventh place on lap 1, and kept it the remaining 51 laps to the conclusion.

Freitas remains in the lead of the ES_GT1 class standings, increasing the lead over rival Ramon Llupart to 18 points. Freitas has two starts and led 52 of his 104 laps while taking the win twice.

Driving the Lola B08/80 Judd, Venne swapped leads multiple rounds with Marco Matias in a long and persistent battle for third starting early on, running within car lengths of each other over a span of 31 laps. Venne ran nearly equal parts leading Matias after challenging and passing him on lap 10, coming from as many as five spots back. After losing the spot on lap 25, Venne cleared Matias for the second time and into second place when Matias retired on lap 37, and held it the final 18 laps to the finish.

Venne is sixth in the ES_P2 class standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as second.

In the 400 career starts taken by Freitas, he has driven the Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT 46 times. This was the first time he matched the car against the circuit at Hermanos Rodriguez. Freitas has raced at Hermanos Rodriguez two times in all with two different cars, his favorite being the Acura ARX 03.

John Van Der Geest raced at the front of the ES_P2 field most of all drivers, leading 40 of 56 laps on a run to first place.

Driving the Oreca 03 Nissan, Van Der Geest mixed it up with Ken Jagger in a long and tense fight for the race lead starting early on, running within a bumper of each other over a span of 24 laps. Van Der Geest drove the majority pursuing Jagger after being engaged and passed by him on lap 12. Van Der Geest launched a prolonged attack at Jagger early in the running, staying within a scrape behind him and keeping pace over a solid run of 16 laps. Van Der Geest passed Jagger and into first place on lap 28, and held it the remaining 28 laps to the conclusion.

Van Der Geest moves up to second in the ES_P2 class standings, six points behind Marcos Junior. Van Der Geest has two starts and led 40 of his 107 laps while taking the victory once.

EnduRacers Endurance Series [SemiPro] moves on to Round 4 in a week at Mid Ohio - No Chicane. The series has 25 drivers competing for points in the multiclass championships.

Barrett Erickson captured first place in the ES_GT2 class.

Erickson spent all of 18 laps total pursuing Mark Carty after catching him on the first lap. Erickson cleared Carty and into 10th place when Carty retired on lap 26, and kept it the final 24 laps to the conclusion.

Erickson moves up to second in the ES_GT2 class standings, 11 points behind Fahn Thomas. Erickson has two starts and took the win once.

Making his 10th start in the Lola B08/80 Judd, Marcos Junior drove to a eighth-place finish in the ES_P2 class.

Andrie Ambadar won fourth place in the ES_P2 class.

Niall Larner took fourth place in the ES_GT2 class.

Rafael Iwata captured second place in the ES_GT1 class.

Ken Jagger held the ES_P2 class lead for 16 laps in a run to seventh place.

Mark Carty captured second place in the ES_GT2 class.

Junior ran the majority of four laps total pursuing Marco Matias after targeting him on the first lap. Junior cleared Matias and into second place on lap 4, and controlled it another few laps toward the checkered flag before retiring early due to dnf trouble.

Junior remains in the lead of the ES_P2 class standings, six points ahead of John Van Der Geest. Junior has three starts and led 106 of his 115 laps while taking the victory twice.

After starting second, Ambadar dropped to 14th in the beginning. Driving the Porsche Spyder Evo, Ambadar spent the majority of nine laps total leading Joao Botelho De Sousa after challenging and passing him on lap 30, coming from as many as seven positions back. Ambadar got around Botelho De Sousa and into fifth place on lap 30, and controlled it the remaining 24 laps to the checkered flag.

Ambadar remains in fifth in the ES_P2 class standings, now tied in points with fourth's Ken Jagger following Jagger's seventh-place finish. Ambadar has two starts and finished as high as second.

Larner drove nearly all of seven laps total leading Mark Carty after being caught by him on the first lap. In the end Larner settled into 10th the lap before retiring early due to dnf trouble.

Larner is ninth in the ES_GT2 class standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as fourth.

Iwata is third in the ES_GT1 class standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as second.

In the 10 career runs taken by Junior in the Lola B08/80 Judd, he has led 186 laps in all and taken the win four times.

Driving the Porsche Spyder Evo, Jagger traded positions with John Van Der Geest in a long and tense fight for the race lead starting early on, running within a bumper of each other over a stretch of 23 laps. Jagger drove the majority leading Van Der Geest after challenging and passing him on lap 12, coming from as many as four positions back. Jagger fended off an extended challenge by Van Der Geest in the early stages, staying just a scuff ahead of him over a continuous run of 16 laps. In the end Jagger lost the spot on lap 28 and settled into second the couple laps before retiring early due to accident trouble.

Jagger drops to fourth in the ES_P2 class standings, now tied in points with fifth's Andrie Ambadar following Ambadar's fourth-place finish. Jagger has three starts and led 18 of his 125 laps while finishing as high as fourth.

Carty started the race in the second position and was caught by Abhishek Dalia for 13th on the first lap. Carty cleared Dalia and into 13th place on lap 1, and held it another 24 laps toward the finish before retiring early due to dnf trouble.

Carty moves up to third in the ES_GT2 class standings, five points behind Barrett Erickson. Carty has two starts and finished as high as second.

Abhishek Dalia took third place in the ES_GT2 class.

Scott Ring took third place in the ES_P2 class.

Apologies for having to drop out only 10 laps in, something unexpected came up and I had no choice. Out of what I did race, I had a load of fun. Great racing from everyone. Congrats to the top finishers.

I reved my engine after colliding with one of the drivers and it then overheated the engine
