13 Sep 2016 — Hernan Hourmilougue started on the pole and led every lap on the way to a commanding victory in the Nogaro Skoda in Round 5 of the Skoda Octavia Challenge [SoAm] series.
Hourmilougue ran all of 18 laps total leading Nuno Gaiteira after being engaged by him on the first lap. Hourmilougue controlled the race lead every lap from start to victory.
Hourmilougue moves up to second in the standings, now tied in points with third's Adolfo Onrubia. Hourmilougue has four starts and led 27 of his 63 laps while taking the win twice.
Skoda Octavia Challenge [SoAm] series moves on to Round 6 in a week at a track to be announced. The series has 29 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Mark Carty leads the championship in a tight campaign over Hernan Hourmilougue, separated by just a few grid positions. Jones drove nearly all of 18 laps total leading Bruno Chacon after engaging and passing him on the second lap. Jones got around Chacon and into sixth place on lap 2, and held it the remaining 16 laps to the finish.
Jones is 13th in the standings for the series. He has two starts and finished as high as sixth.
Bruno spent nearly equal parts of 11 laps total leading Luís Almeida after challenging and passing him on lap 8. Bruno passed Almeida and into third place on lap 8, and defended it against pressure by Almeida another five laps toward the conclusion.
Bruno moves up to fifth in the standings, six points behind Porfirio Dias Santos. Bruno has four starts and finished as high as third.
Porfirio Dias Santos took fourth place.
Nuno Gaiteira won second place.
Dias Santos spent nearly equal parts of 13 laps total leading Luís Almeida after catching and passing him on lap 13. Dias Santos cleared Almeida and into fourth place on lap 13, and defended it against pressure by Almeida the remaining six laps to the checkered flag.
Dias Santos remains in fourth in the standings, increasing the lead over rival Andy Bruno to six points. Dias Santos has five starts and finished as high as fourth.
Gaiteira drove all of 12 laps total leading Andy Bruno after being engaged by him on the first lap. Gaiteira fended off an extended challenge by Bruno in the middle stages, staying just a couple turns ahead of him over a solid run of 10 laps. Gaiteira held second position every lap from the start to the conclusion.
Gaiteira moves up to seventh in the standings, three points behind Ville Hartikainen. Gaiteira has three starts and finished as high as second.
Luís Almeida took fifth place.
Almeida spent nearly equal parts of 13 laps total leading Porfirio Dias Santos after being caught by him on the first lap. In the end Almeida settled into fifth the half-dozen laps running to the finish.
Almeida is 16th in the standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as fifth.
