13 Sep 2016 — Hernan Hourmilougue commanded the top spot most of all, leading 25 of 25 laps on a run to first place in the Nogaro 2009 Vintage F2 in Round 7 of the 1978 F2 GP series.
Hourmilougue drove all of 25 laps total leading Toni Talvitie after being caught by him on the first lap. Hourmilougue fended off an extended challenge by Talvitie in the beginning, staying just a car length ahead of him over a continuous run of 25 laps. After starting second, Hourmilougue took the race lead on the first lap and controlled it to the win.
Hourmilougue remains in the lead of the standings, increasing the lead over rival Toni Talvitie to nine points. Hourmilougue has six starts and led 33 of his 120 laps while taking the victory once.
One last pass on the final lap put Simon Swarbrick in seventh place at the finish line.
Swarbrick traded positions back and forth with Mark Carty in a lengthy and unrelenting fight for seventh from the middle stages, running within a car length of each other over a span of 20 laps. Driving the Chevron B42, Swarbrick ran the majority pursuing Carty after targeting him on the third lap, coming from as many as three positions back. Swarbrick cleared Carty for the second time and into seventh place on his final lap.
Swarbrick remains in fourth in the standings, increasing the lead over rival Bruno Chacon to seven points. Swarbrick has six starts and finished as high as fifth.
1978 F2 GP series moves on to its eighth and final round in a week at Misano World Circuit. The series has 34 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Hernan Hourmilougue leads the championship in a tight campaign over Toni Talvitie, separated by just a handful of finishing positions. Talvitie drove all of 10 laps total leading Marcos Nunez after being caught by him on the first lap. After starting first, Talvitie settled into second position on the first lap and controlled it every lap to the finish.
Talvitie remains in second in the standings, increasing the lead over rival Matt Geddes to seven points. Talvitie has four starts and led 29 of his 97 laps while taking the victory once.
Marcos Nunez won third place.
Driving the Nova 532, Geddes swapped leads with Simon Swarbrick in a lengthy and unrelenting battle for fifth starting midway through, running within a scrape of each other over a span of 10 laps. Geddes spent nearly equal parts leading Swarbrick after being engaged by him on the first lap. After losing the spot on lap 12, Geddes got around Swarbrick and into fifth place on lap 16, and kept it the remaining nine laps to the finish.
Geddes remains in third in the standings, increasing the lead over rival Simon Swarbrick to six points. Geddes has six starts and finished as high as second.
