23 Dec 2016 — Matt Geddes won 10th place in the Eastern Creek BMW E21 in the fourth and final round of the Swift Sport BMW E21 Sayonara series.
Geddes traded positions multiple rounds with Tony Carl Christensen in a short and fervent fight for fifth starting early on, running within a car length of each other for four laps and three position changes. Geddes spent equal parts leading Carl Christensen after challenging and passing him on the fourth lap, coming from as many as five positions back. After losing the spot on lap 7, Geddes passed Carl Christensen for the second time and into sixth place on lap 8, and controlled it another lap toward the finish before retiring early due to dnf trouble.
Geddes finished the series 12th in the standings. He made three starts and finished as high as 10th.
Swift Sport BMW E21 Sayonara series finished its season after four rounds spanning a little more than a week. A total of 40 drivers competed for points in the championship.
Javier Manzanares took the championship in a tight campaign over Ville Hartikainen, separated by just a couple grid spots in the end. Manzanares led 25 laps and took a single win in four races. Ville Hartikainen, Tommaso Pinter, Matias Perales, Mark Carty, Marcos Nunez, and Mike Dos Santos finished within a race of the title.
