Race report
Simply the Best St Jovite Vintage GT on Jun 28, 2009
Car: AC Shelby Cobra. Class: P&G. Start: 3. Finish: 2. Laps: 30.

Had a bit of trouble this race, but still managed to grab my customary 2nd place, which was what I was shooting for. I didn't have Barrett's pace early, but in time I found enough that I could hang with him or maybe he was just keeping it interesting.

Quali started with a computer failure on the 1st flying lap. Luckily I was able to reboot and rejoin in time to put in 1 flyer. I could have been quicker, but it didn't matter since I got another lightning launch. Barrett considered the fight into turn 2, but I'm sure he knew he had the pace and wisely didn't protest the position.

I built a gap and was expecting Barrett to be chasing me down within a couple laps. Surprisingly, It was Miguel and Bryce who were pressuring me early.

Bryce was really quick and was nervous my 2nd place finish was in jeopardy. When I saw him pit on lap 3, I knew he was light and felt like I was in good shape again. I put my head down and tried to put in a few fast laps. On lap 7, I made an unusual error trying to eek out every little ounce on the exit of the last turn and ran up too far on the curbing. The car shot across the track and whacked the inside wall at start/finish. My 6 second lead instantly evaporated letting Barrett by and Miguel was right on my heels.

Miguel and I battled for 4 laps till I broke away enough to concentrate on Barrett. He was within eye sight till my pit at lap 19. I didn't see him again. He drove a fantastic race with no mistakes that I could see or benefit from. Congrats again on a fine drive this race and the entire season. You certainly earned the wins.

I had a few more offs throughout the race. I dropped 4 wheels reentering from the pits when I saw Hutch barrelling down on me. I should not be scared like that. The blind crest at the apex didn't help, but still no excuses. I dropped 2 wheels at turn 4 pushing hard late in the race.

Looking forward to more P&G battles in the future. Watch out for the little Cobra attacking Dijon.
