I came.... I watched the tumbleweed rolling across the screen for a while... I left...
As I turn my back and walk away, I can't help but wonder what could have been... (fades in to the distance)
Just had my last ever race at Race2Play...
All that is left to say is Happy New Year to you all, see you on the flip side...
Bye bye Race2Play...
RallyX Time Trials at Bent Metal SIM Racing
Foreword: So who fancies themselves as a rally driver? And who just loves going round a corner sideways? Well I do for a start, in fact, 31 years ago I had the chance to race in the Lombard Rally Championship, unfortunately I could not find the sponsorships needed to participate, so that was that!
Anyway, thank God for SIM Racing!! Because now I can bring the cars and the tracks to you! Historic Rally Cars, short rally tracks, long rally tracks, hill climbs and even ice/snow rally tracks, and if all that doesn't get your heart pumping then this series isn't for you. Please feel free to sign up and join in the fun of setting the fastest time in the Rallycross Time Trials at BMSR.
Mod: Historic Rally Cars - Group F
Alfa Romeo GTA, Alpine A110, BMW 2002 Alpina, Ford Escort RS, Lancia Fulvia, NSU Prinz TTS, R12 Gordini, R8 Gordini, Renault 5 Turbo, Simca
Race Length: Server will be up from 9am Tuesday to 9pm Friday (GMT) giving you 4 days to set your best lap times.
I now have a SIM racing website up and running, it'll never be on the same scale as Race2Play, but it does offer free membership. (Currently there is no registration or login process)
I am running an annual leaderboard where the winner shall receive a personalized BMSR trophy, I believe I am the first to offer a SIM racing trophy... :)
I will be running rFactor 1 races on Monday, GSCE races on Wednesdays and GT Legend races on Friday, they are all point scoring championships.
I run my own servers which will be running most days 9am till 9pm for practice, lap times go through to BMSR at LiveRacers.com
If you are interested then check out the website by clicking on the link below.
The first race I am running is DTM's, Monday evenings at 8pm GMT. Time scale is 40 minutes, fuel x4 and tyre x2, so it will involve a tactical pitstop.
If you are interested you can sign up at the link below.
Just found this...
World SIM Driver Association (WSDA)
The World SIM Driver Association group was created after the news that probably the most go to SIM Racing website Race2Play was, after 10yrs, closing its doors.
All past, present and future SIM drivers are welcome to join and stay in touch with their friends through here, as well as sharing news and information about what races are happening where.
I find myself beginning to lose interest in SIM racing lately, not sure why exactly..
Perhaps the the level of competition is too great, or perhaps more people are moving on to modern SIM's like rF2, Automobilista, RaceRoom and Assetto Corsa, I do have all these SIM's, but a) my PC struggles (I need a more powerful graphics card) and b) I do actually prefer rF1.
Maybe I just need a break for a while...
Anyone else ever find themselves thinking/feeling like this?
Okay, just lately I am having graphics issues with all my racing SIM games which is affecting my racing performance.
It all started when I performed an update for rFactor 2, I was running Windows 10 at the time and had been for some 6 months with some teething problems but nothing major, anyway, after performing the update my system wanted to restart, upon restarting it got stuck in a booting loop. I am very savvy with computers and so set about trying to correct the issue, after much failure and Google searching I ascertained that it was a common Windows 10 issue so decided to back everything up and return to Windows 7 (64bit).
So, I am now running Windows 7, no issues whatsoever, apart from when I am running a SIM game, I get lots of stuttering in the graphics and I cannot find out why.
My system is as follows:
Motherboard - ASROCK N68C-S UCC
CPU - AMD Phenom II x4 910
Memory - 8gb DDR3
Graphics - 2gb Nvidia Gforce 720 GT
So as you can see it isn't a light weight system, and the things I have tried so far are as follows:
Turned off replay and hot lap saves.
Lowered all graphics settings to low.
Checked all graphics drivers are up to date - Yes.
Checked all G27 drivers are up to date - Yes.
Checked all system drivers are up to date - Yes.
The problem is still not resolved, I am running out of ideas now so am asking if there are any other tech-heads out there that can give me some input.
I am beginning to think it might be hardware related, but it is just weird that the whole thing started when I updated rFactor 2 and rebooted...
Today I was informed that I was to receive a 30 day suspension for intentional punting which violates the participant conduct rule.
My initial reaction was of anger, but being the laid back chilled out type of guy I am this turned in to acceptance realising that it is what it is and that there is nothing I can do about it, the powers that be have spoken!
So this evening, after some research I found and signed up with another online racing website called RaceConnect.com, I have my first race next Wednesday, 30th March, I can't afford to become rusty over the next 30 days so need an input from somewhere, plus I will go nuts if I don't race..
I am pondering whether or not to cancel the 4 series that I have on the go as I feel it would be unfair for me not to be able to race in something that I created, I will keep you all posted on this decision.
I am also currently looking at some games to play on the PS4, jeez I am going to be so bored for a month!
